AED For At Home Sudden Cardiac Arrests
The shock of an automated external defibrillator, or AED, plays a pivotal role in determining the rate of recovery for victims during a cardiac arrest incident– with 9 in 10 surviving when an AED shock was deployed within the first minute of the episode.
At MME, we stress the urgency of having these life-saving devices placed across public forums, whether it be schools, workplaces, parks, pools, places of worship, or other high-occupancy areas. While many acknowledge the need for AEDs in public spaces, the one space where the majority of cardiac arrest incidents take place is often overlooked, the home. Over 70 percent of cardiac arrests happen at an individual’s residence– only 6 percent of which result in survival.
HeartStart OnSite AED
Philips designed the HeartStart OnSite AED specifically for at-home storage and use. Many factors, such as convenience, size, cost, and pediatric abilities make the Philips OnSite AED a most-have for home emergency response.
The HeartStart OnSite AED is the first and only defibrillator approved for home use, and is available without a physician’s prescription. Upon delivery, this AED is virtually all set and ready to go, with the electrode pad cartridge and battery pack already installed and the materials already configured in a slender case so that it is easy to store and remove at a moment’s notice.
Aside from the consolidation of materials within the OnSite AED’s package, the device’s portability is heavily influenced by the size of the product. Weighing only 3.3 pounds, the OnSite is incredibly lightweight and compact. For many who live in rural or isolated locations, accessing an AED from a public area or a first responder isn’t feasible, especially when every minute could make the difference in saving a life. The OnSite ensures swift deployment and emergency intervention for even the most remote homes.
An AED Made For The Home
The OnSite AED is specifically geared toward home use.
At the heart of these devices, lies their ability to deliver real-time assistance with step-by-step voice commands and CPR coaching. Designed for even the most inexperienced of users, the attached electrode pads simply read the body’s electrical system before providing feedback to the AED, which will then modify voice instructions according to the user’s pace, repeating and rephrasing as needed. With this user-friendliness and quick delivery time, precious moments are saved, improving the likelihood of survival and recovery for the victim involved.
An AED For All Ages
The OnSite is compatible with people of all ages and sizes. While many assume that cardiac arrest only affects the older population or those with history of cardiac issues, cardiac arrest can unfortunately happen to anyone, including children and those with no history of heart problems.
To best provide life-saving response for children, this AED is compatible with Philips’ infant and child electrode pads cartridge. Once this cartridge is inserted, the OnSite automatically adjusts CPR commands and lowers shock energy so that it is safer for small bodies, making this a well-suited AED for households with kids.
Apart from both the adult and child electrode pads, optional training cartridges are included with the OnSite AED packages, providing users with simulated practice sessions and helping prepare them to address high-stress situations with composure and proper response techniques.
Though progress has been made to increase AED accessibility in public places, home SCA is still the greatest risk of death from cardiac arrest. We help thousands of individuals, businesses, non-profits, and families keep life-saving AED devices installed and rescue-ready. Our mission is to empower and equip anyone to step up and save a life during cardiac emergency, wherever it may occur.
